STOP PRESS!

Great news announced today at the Frankfurt Book Fair is that a previously unreleased novel by Desmond Bagley - Domino Island - will be published by HarperCollins Publishers UK in May 2019 !

Thirty-six years after the author's passing, a new novel being published is a tremendous achievement. It is the result of tireless dedication and support of the author's work by David Brawn, the Estates Manager at the publisher. Given that David also works for the Agatha Christie and Tolkien estates, this is a tremendous recommendation and cannot be understated.

Big thanks must also go to Philip Eastwood of The Bagley Brief web-site for his own dogged, extensive, trans-Atlantic research in support of his own project The Bagley Legacy. As you'll remember from my earlier posts Philip made a very successful appearance at the Guernsey Literary Festival this year, promoting the author.

The ISBN has already been allocated so you should be able pre-order from your favourite web-store:

ISBN: 978-0008333010

... certainly it is listed on Amazon.

More news and a new Podcast will be available very soon. Watch this space!

Other Book Reviews

Like Desmond Bagley we here at HQ are avid readers. Most of the time we go out and buy our reading-fix, but occasionally we are very lucky to be sent ARC (Advance Reading Copies) of new titles. However they come our way we will be posting occasional reviews on the web-site, in our new section. Hopefully you will find them interesting. They are up in the "Reviews" menu.

The Exhibition continues ...

Well the Guernsey Literary Festival is now over but The Life and Work of Desmond Bagley exhibition is open until the 9th June. It features original cover artwork, professional photographs of the author, excellent and informative information panels and a very personal painting by local artist Peter Le Vasseur. Well worth a visit if you find yourself anywhere near the Guille-Allès Library in Market Street, St Peter Port.

Blue Plaque

A very significant day for the ongoing memory of the author and his wife. A new Blue Plaque was unveiled at their former home, now called Bagley Hall, at 11:30am this morning by the Bailiff of Guernsey Sir Richard John Collas.

To see the Blue Plaque and read about the unveiling head on over to The Bagley Brief.

The Future ...

Hello World!

Because the current web-host for the official Desmond Bagley web-site is closing their service down and kicking us out, I am exploring options for places to move the site.

Although it has been online for over 20-years, it has generated no income, and no-one supports it but myself. In this modern world, with the exponential growth in Internet use and its monetisation, cost has become a real issue and a free host such as Google's Blogger platform may be the only way to go...
