As mentioned yesterday, “Thin Ice”, by author Michael Davies, was published today by HarperCollins Publishers UK. Michael went along to BBC Northamptonshire to chat with presenter Bernie Keith about the Desmond Bagley legacy involved, and his latest work. The show is available on BBC Sounds now. Michael’s segment begins at 44m41s and lasts for about twelve minutes.

Thin Ice - New Bill Kemp novel
Tomorrow, October 24th, is publication day for Michael Davies’s new book – “Thin Ice”.
This new story once more features Bill Kemp, Bagley’s insurance investigator, who’d been languishing in an unpublished manuscript deep in Boston University’s archive for decades. Philip Eastwood of The Bagley Brief website dug him out and the novel “Domino Island” followed, curated by Michael. Such was the success of a new Bagley story that its sequel “Outback” was commissioned.
“Thin Ice” is now Bill Kemp’s third outing. I haven’t seen a copy so like me you’ll have to head on over to Amazon UK – or your local book store – to find out more.

Wicked Spirits
Harper-Collins have just published a new anthology of spooky stories, probably in time for the Halloween season, called Wicked Spirits. The contents are supernatural mysteries by well-known authors that were “previously unpublished”. It includes the short story The House of the Lions by Bagley, about the strangeness at his then home, Hay Hill in Totnes.
This story isn’t “previously unpublished” as stated. It appeared as an extra in a double-book edition – The Spoilers & Juggernaut – in 2009.
